This whole thread reminds of the quote: “I joined the Coast Guard because it seemed like we were the only military service operating even when we weren’t fighting in some war,” said Operations Spc. Bill Horvath, of Sector Humboldt Bay. “But then you realize we are at war, against an army of dipshits with boats.”
I feel like the prevalence of “I hate math” jokes is based on the sorts of people who tend to draw cartoons. Cartooning is a medium that relies on a good understanding of writing and artistry, making those who make cartoons far more likely to have enjoyed those subjects as opposed to math.
On the other hand, “the door is red” is a pretty standard type of joke engineers make about how useless writing/English classes are. Classes they tended to enjoy less than things like math and science.
In reality, STEM and the humanities tend to be pretty balanced. If you’re hearing more complaints about one than the other, it might be because of who you’re listening to.
There’s an example of him messing around with a guitar here: https://www.gocomics.com/frazz/2001/04/05. There are a couple others, they just tend to be pretty subtle, especially around Christmas/new year
My only issue with that is in order to appeal to mosquitoes, you need blood pumping through your veins and for that you need a heart and a brain. Considering lawyers lack the former and politicians the latter, I doubt it’ll be very effective.
Ok. Speaking as an engineer, those numbers you threw out for engineers are heavily inflated at the least (the actual for starting engineers with a bachelors is about 60k annual, and with experience that maybe grows to 100k). And from my knowledge/cursory internet checks the average salary of an experienced nurse is 70k annually. CNRA’s have a graduate degree and the way that you are doing the average is mathematically incorrect to the point that I’m sure that you did it that way in order to try to manipulate the data. It is far more difficult to earn six figure than merely by virtue of what you graduate in. Pulling that sort of salary is dependent on location, experience, being in the top portion of your profession, and something people rarely acknowledge, luck. People who say if you were just a * you would be rich are almost always misinformed. All 6 figure salaries require either tons of experience, really good connections, or genuinely brilliant and innovative people.
