   Barack Obama was inaugurated on Jan 20, 2009. The S&P 500 on Feb 1, 2009 was at 805.23. Barack Obama left office on Jan 20, 2017. The S&P 500 on Feb 1, 2017 was 2329.91.

   That’s a 289.35% increase. Or, to use layman’s terms, almost triple.

   That’s the current use of the term, but that use actually post-dates this comic. The association of the term “Weeaboo” for a non-Asian fan of Japanese culture comes from the pervasive use of “Wapanese” on the 4chan image board, leading moderators to insert an automatic word filter in 2005 that substituted the word “Weeaboo” for “Wapanese” whenever the latter was typed on the board. The moderators found the term from this comic. Users adapted, and simply began referring to the same population as “Weeaboos.”
