The first National War Dog Memorial is located in Guam. 25 dogs who gave their lives helping to liberate Guam in 1944 are memorialized, and buried, there. The statue is a Doberman Pinscher since most of the dogs serving there were dobermans. Check it out at https://guam.stripes.com/travel/memorial-tells-rarely-heard-old-war-storiesI’m just glad the military brings our dogs home now. War animals used to be left behind with other abandoned “equipment” when the troops left. I think the last time this happened was in Vietnam.
