There’s a significant difference between belief in a universe that needs a creator and belief that this creator did it all for you. In the last 3000 or so years, we have learned a lot more about this universe. We have a good idea how old it is – 13.7 billion years – how big it is – there are more stars in the sky than there are grains of sand on all the beaches of the earth – and how long we have been here – about 200,000 years. To believe that this creator has a personal interest in our totally insignificant lives in this immense existence is, to me, completely illogical. And there is no evidence for for such a creator.

Sexing penguins (zoos have to do it so they know who’s who) requires taking blood and then looking at the chromosomes. There are no external sex variations to look for. And did you know that bird sex chromosomes work the opposite way to mammals. The females have the two different ones called ZW, the males are ZZ,

Giventhese facts, belief in a personal god is completely irrational.

I lived my first 25 years in Australia. I’ve killed spiders and snakes, never seen a shark. The biggest danger are the increasingly high summer temperatures. Go visit now before climate change makes it impossible to enjoy!

If you were offended by the Olympic celebration of Dionysus, the original bacchanalia, you were mislead by people who did not know Greek mythology. That was NOT a depiction of Da Vinci’s last supper, which was itself an interpretation – when were you last at an intimate dinner gathering where everybody sat on the one side of the table?

From 1975 to 1977, I went through Afghanistan 5 times. Those were the days of the trans Asia coach tours (London to Kathmandu and back). I worked as a tour guide for one of the many companies offering those trips. Afghanistan was my favourite country – amazing things to see and do, good food and friendly people. Then politics intervened, the Russians invaded and it has been hell ever since.

Given all that, which is fantasy by the way, just how probable do you think it is that “something far, far more powerful and intelligent than humans, and with ultimate authority” would have done it all just so that it could monitor the lives of the sentient beings that came to exist on this one tiny infinitesimal speck in the huge space which is the universe some 13 billion years after it all began.
