“Scarves” is correct. Much like “rooves” is equally correct. No matter what spell-checker may think, in re plural forms of “scarf” and “roof”. Been correct for decades (at least seven to my knowledge).
From the either side: Getting on the train (yes, the train) heading for basic training in far-away Texas, and watching my mother cry as we pulled out of Union Station was tough. Watching one’s mother cry is not a good memory even though they stay with your forever.
