I am one of those dreaded morning people… I was raised with 2 very NOT morning people however, so I learned to keep my self quietly entertained. Nowadays, I love to be up early, listening to soft music, quietly puttering and easing into the day. Unlike my dad who used to start cranking some raucous Beethoven…not sure if that’s how he really enjoyed starting the day, or if he knew it would annoy my mom…
Rain gauge on my Grit City back fence showed 1.5 inches fell in the last 24 hrs… the level of the water table on the property is now about 6" under the surface of my uphill property, and the pond has started forming on my downhill property… so I second DeerOrchard’s pretty squishy!
Grace is the only one of my many cats who had a name morph over time. I adopted her after she was hit by a car (I was the AC officer who picked her up). At first I was just calling her Kitty Cat…. then K.C…. then Casie… then, after I discovered she had none, Grace. Many were the times she tried to leap up on my dresser only to fall short and catch only the dresser scarf…and down she would come along with everything that was on top of the dresser….
Sorry for your loss. My mom passed 3 and a half months ago and her sister (who lived with us for many years) died exactly 3 months later. While our family is very practical about such things, the paperwork involved seems never ending… none of which can start until the death certificate arrives. Not to say there aren’t moments where we feel plenty of feelings, but time marches on so the rest of us had better get busy living if we aren’t doing so now….
The first actual meat mincemeat pie I had was made with moose meat… it was rather good! Nothing like the fruit variety, which I don’t mind now as an adult, but couldn’t stand as a child!
