I don’t comment very often but I am really glad this has been a guest artist. If they ever became permanent I’d drop the strip and possibly my GoComics subscription. UGH.
As a long-time Tracy reader — even during the period between Collins and Curtis — AND comic-strip fan Curtis’s various expansions into other properties, whether it’s name-drops, cameos, or full guest-star reinventions. Friday Foster, Hotshot Charlie, Steve Roper and Mike Nomad, Annie Warbucks, Brenda Starr just to name some. I don’t feel the Tracy property is diminished in the slightest. Instead the writer’s efforts call attention to many other great strips over the years and even point the way how they might be revived if enough interested warranted. Huzzah! There are plenty of Tracy-centric storylines every year but under Curtis and his artists I feel his work not only celebrates Dick Tracy but a lot of other Tribune characters (and some non-Trib ones as well).
So whether this is just name-dropping or leading to a full-blown crossover, I say BRING IT ON. :)
