   I had this happen to me a few months ago. Happily, I get e-mails from my bank when my balance is affected negatively (believe it or not, that still exists). Within 12 hours of the attempted online purchase my card was stopped, a new card number was issued as a temporary the business was advised that the purchase was unauthorised and a police report was filed. And the funds that were attempted to be moved were put back where they came from. Tip to everyone out there – I undid the link I had on my accounts fr overdraft protection and now just watch my balance more carefully. The only person the linked accounts helped was the thief. Had the accounts not been linked the original purchase would not have gone through. In this day and age, if you wait for the paper statement in the mail you could be broke before you get it. Watch your accounts!!
