" When I objected to Mr. Albright’s firing and the exaggeration of the snowpack loss, I was told that although I might be scientifically correct, I would be helping “climate deniers” if I gave the correct information. I needed to stand with those pushing excessive numbers, to get people to do the “right thing.” Even for the wrong reason. According to some of my colleagues, the ends justify unethical and untruthful means. I just couldn’t go there."

& @sundogusa Let’s see, first we shouldn’t use paper bags because you have to cut down trees, so use plastic bags. Now they (Seattle) says they aren’t going to recycle plastic bags because they jam up the machines. So do we go back to paper? Or you need (some say “have to”) use cloth bags…cloth, cotton, from plants that have to be cut down and processed. Sounds like a vicious cycle to me.
Glass bottles are inconvenient, you have to return them, isn’t that unlikely to happen in a throw-away society?

You mean someone in congress is not exempt from IRS rules? Don’t they pass laws to stop someone else from doing something that they think THEY shouldn’t be doing? (second cup of coffee coming up — urp)

Just for fun: "the publication of a “globe or map” entitled “Wm. Money’s Discovery of the Ocean,” published in 1880, which showed the city of San Francisco missing, toppled into the ocean. Why create a map like this? Simply put, it was artistic license. Money really, really didn’t like San Francisco. Too many brothels and bars for his teetotaler ilk." – https://psmag.com/environment/is-san-andreas-fiction-or-fantasy

“GOP committee members were filmed leaving a hearing room by Stars and Stripes reporter Steve Beynon after Chairman Mark Takano stopped debate on their proposed additions to the Deborah Sampson Act, a decision Republicans later called “partisan” and “shameful.”
California Democrat Takano suggested that he stopped the debate because Republicans were trying to introduce “toxic, partisan amendments” to a bill that aimed to improve health care offered to female veterans at VA medical facilities.
The Military Times reported that GOP representatives tried to introduce amendments covering veterans’ firearm rights and VA child care to the suggested expansions of health care rights in the bill." — https://www.newsweek.com/republicans-storm-out-female-veteran-health-care-bill-1468605
Having not read the bill in question, and having not seen the amendments introduced, I don’t see where “VA child care” is “toxic”. “firearms rights”, everybody talks about it, and does nothing.
Remember that 97% of the news that you read is controlled by seven(7) corporations ( six(6) if you discount Fox), you until you determine who the Minister of Propaganda is, you look at each loaded word with a critical eye. Especially if they are surrounded by quotation marks, “toxic”, “partisan”, “shameful” and “stormed out”. Just to fan the flames, “stormed out” as in how Nancy Pelosi left a White House meeting?
Please reread the statement made by Fmr Pres Obama, if you don’t fit into the “I’m right and you’re wrong”, then please ignore that comment.
there must be a word for this type of phrase that might follow – “I knew her well” -[ either as a companion, or as an excavator? ]
