My grandmother got me through algebra. She was born in 1882 and died at the age of 82. She went to school in South Dakota in the 1890s and lived near the fight at Wounded Knee when they thought the Indians would come and kill them. Women didn’t become scientists or engineers then, or even teachers because teachers had to win fights with 15 year old farm boys. I think the school taught mathematics to girls so they could teach it to their sons. Pretty awesome.
