Nice shout out to an old Dan Patrick line from the heyday of SportsCenter in the first panel. That was as cool as the other side of the pillow (the late Stuart Scott).
Yes, I’m aware. I was just saying the Yale Degree probably would top a matchbook art school diploma. Growing up in CT, Trudeau was known pre-Doonesbury because of his comic strip at Yale. He even had a character from my home town to advise Mike on how to get a date.
Kizmet, an OTRB member of the family, used to lay down on top of the old CRT monitors that threw off a lot of heat. The first day we switched to flat screens, she jumped up onto the desk and then jumped up to her perch on the monitor. Which was not there anymore and down went Kizmet. She tried to look dignified when she picked herself up but it was not going to work.
One of our two Orangey brothers has taken up is spot on the cat bed next to a heating vent. Peanut has shorter hair than his brother Butter and is a heat seeking missile!
Of all the characters in the Doonesbury universe, Zeke/Stupidhead is the one I just cannot stand, to the point where I will skip strips that he’s in. Of course, I read them all the first time through but can’t do the reruns.
Drawing characters as either one’s alter ego or as a means of projection of characteristics one does not like in themselves may be too deep for most comics but probably not Doonesbury!
Wait, Jeffrey has a sister? Did Rick and Joanie have a second child I don’t recall or would this be a much older half sister from her first marriage before she met up with the Walden Commune crew?
