Wikipedia indicates that The Real Claude Barlow was either extremely dedicated or extremely demented: “In July 1944, physician researcher Claude Barlow ingested over 200 schistosome worms to carry back to the United States from Egypt to study whether domestic snails could become infected and introduce the disease into the United States. Attempts to send infected snails, the intermediate host, by mail had been unsuccessful. He refused treatment, despite being desperately ill by December, so as not to lose the eggs for further study. He finally passed 4,630 eggs in his semen and 200 eggs in his urine. The U.S. government decided not to use the eggs, so his self-sacrifice was to no avail. It was November 1945 before he finally cleared all the parasites, after treatment with tartar emetic.”

I just tried that and came up with: “Claude Barlow: A History of Self-Experimentation” by Judith Sondheimer.

Abstract: " Medical research has a long history of investigators who used themselves as experimental subjects in their efforts to solve infectious disease mysteries. These intrepid investigators voluntarily exposed themselves to infectious agents for reasons of expediency as well as ethics and watched themselves while disease developed. The risks of this research could be great. Claude H. Barlow, a missionary surgeon and parasitologist of the early 20th century, used this experimental technique on many occasions during a long career in helminthology."

I disagree. Watch movies from the 1920s or 1930s. Films like “Dr. Mabuse The Gambler” or “Different From the Others” or or even the 1929 version of “The Desert Song.” Attraction between two men was known and alluded to often, albeit always indirectly. Like here. It just wasn’t as big deal back then like we have made it now.

Because now we consider people’s private lives to be our business.

True. But we are told that Numa was a broad, yet neither of these men are interested in her.

Right. In this story, Tarzan saves the guy’s life so he takes him back to his homeland where a scantily-clad evil queen says the guy is wrong and sentences them both to death. Completely different story.

Sorry, your plot is far too interesting and innovative to be used by Batiuk.

After all, Jarre-Jarre Blinks is also the financial backer, producer, writer, director, actor and casting director for the movie, so why shouldn’t he also be music director?
