I was thinking that because it’s mitosis, the explanation might be “A cell has so much love that it gets bigger and bigger until there’s two of it to love”. But the meiosis story is funnier :)
Heck, I taught college math & physics and laughed out loud at this one, too.
FWIW the artist must have a math and/or scientific background because a lot of his jokes are scientifically accurate.
