When I was growing up the local gamestore down by Offutt Air Force base was named “Ground Zero Games” (still there and going strong!) and we could get tee shirts that said, “Omaha Nebraska – First in the hearts and minds of the Soviet Nuclear Missile Command”.
My cousin used to work at a local bar, throwing out the rif-raf. He was very proud of our heritage and wore one of those national flag leather jackets at work. He was known as the “Czech Bouncer”. Ba-dam-ching!
I remember a certain congressman who wanted to send a manned mission to the Sun. When it was explained to him that the sun would burn up the ship the congressman replied that NASA would have to send them at night!
