Is there any chance of a graphic novel? (I would love to see the big library scene on a 2-page spread!) If not, I’ll start printing a page or two a day at work! ; )
When he was a kid, my dad got to hear Charles Lindbergh talk when he visited Dad’s school. He caught the flying bug, he worked at Edwards AFB and had an early J3 Cub, flew with Yeager back when Armstrong was the new kid on the test line. I was always sorry that he didn’t get to read/see The Right Stuff, he would have loved it. <3
I just bought a sweet little 1949 Singer Featherweight; as a newbie quilter I’m picturing all those workshops and classes I’m going to take. Someday. Stupid job.
I remember reading in the Whole Earth Catalog, (oh,gosh, maybe it was Steal This Book?) that modern tires are the super heroes of the highway! We’ve had one flat in 30 years, so I guess I have to agree.
And the girls got home ec. I always felt cheated, now I realize we were fortunate to get at least that. Everyone needs to learn tool skills and sewing/cooking/basic home management and budgeting. I will say I was the first girl to take metal shop in my high school, the year that Billie Jean King took on Bobby Riggs. \o/
I’m glad she didn’t stop at “Hint, hint!” Spell it out for Bub, sister – find a link to the sewing machine her golfer friends suggest, to give to Bub. And a list of notions – rotary cutters and cutting mats, specialty rulers, and the ever popular gift certificate to the local quilt store. Or big box fabric store as a poor substitute for the real thing.(Brand new quilter here.)
