The power is out. I think the coloring is to indicate it’s very dark.

My advice is to leave your telescope out of it and experience the total eclipse with your daughter. If you aren’t careful you’ll spend so much time fussing with your toys and if you’re lucky the best you’ll get is a photo that is exactly like thousands of photographs which will be available afterwards though probably not as good.

@emeisty Exactly that! People aren’t so crazy with bacon or bacon fat in cooking vegetables these days so there is a whole spread of vegetables and a room full of social but people are bothered that they don’t have a fake turkey (Tofurky?) which I wouldn’t be thrilled about eating anyway.

This cartoon was more fun when it was cats making funny observations than when it started mirroring the violence of the real world.

Señor Bigote is a tuxedo cat with white above his mouth that looks like a mustache. Bigote is spanish for mustache or whiskers.

Oster was black cat who came by and ate the leftover food from our outdoor black cat from time to time. There was another black cat which came around too and we called them “imposters” since we would mistake them for our cat, and eventually we started calling the Imp and Oster to distinguish the two imposters. Imp eventually stopped coming but Oster eventually became an indoor cat with us.

The Little Dickens (Dickie) came to our bedroom window as a kitten. We already had a bunch of cats so we were trying trying to find a home for her so my wife just called her The Little Dickens as a temporary name. We finally found a neighbor how named her something awful but after a week they decided that she was too much for their big dog to deal with and asked if we could take her back. We ended up keeping her and the The Little Dickens stuck as her name.

Mico was a very long tailed kitten. We found mico with the definition of a long tailed monkey. He turned into a huge Maine Coon mix.

Melvin was found barely conscious in the middle of a country two way highway. I was just starting to be sad at a dead cat in then middle of the road when his head moved. Turns out he had only been hit by a rock or something (eye bleeding). The closest vet wasn’t really a pet vet and he was dehydrated so the vet flippantly mis-sexed him as a girl. I named him Melba since he was almost toast. A week later when I took him to my local vet the sex was corrected but since I’d been calling him Melba for a week I decided it should be similar so I called him Melvin.

Sinbad just seemed like a good name for an Abyssinian.
