Someone I was on an online forum with liked to sign off with the phrase “Visualize whirled peas,” until someone else declared that the image was disgusting, so he stopped.
I don’t have a problem with taking fictional characters seriously, but what concerns me is the overwhelming tendency here to prioritize ethical/moral criticism of those characters. Is this Puritan New England of the 17th century or what?
You might want to know that in China, Mao ordered birds killed and there were enough insect pests to make even him sorry. I am appalled to see what NOT YOURS SAYS. The birds are ours.
