Well, yeah, the idea that males are expendable, which is widespread throughout nature, is a bit unsettling. The drone bee (workers, all female, wouldn’t be caught dead in that bar) is waiting his turn to commiserate, probably to lament that the whole hive was calling him a half-wit (male bees are haploid) and a lazy no-account (they don’t work). This one can’t have mated yet, they don’t survive the experience. And, oh, drones don’t have stingers.

Cartoon first appeared 3 March 2017. Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose. Wiley must be on holiday (hope all’s well).

This reminds me of the Gary Larson cartoon in which a dinosaur is standing at a lectern, addressing a conference audience, and saying that everyone present was in trouble, because an asteriod was coming “and we all have brains the size of a walnut”. Not that cranial hyperplasy has done Homo sapiens any good.

That could go nuclear, what with Walmart trying to capture a patch of Amazon’s turf. Discussion behind the scenes is over whether Walmart’s digital assistant – Sam – will have Sam Walton’s voice, or Elizabeth Montgomery’s, or Shelby Forthright’s.

Like wow. It’s like, y’know, like all these ‘congresscritters’ elected themselves, yeah? If we want to be ruled by a pack of people over whom we have neither power nor responsibility, why don’t we just go ahead and install a king – sorry, queen – , a royal court, and a hierarchy of nobles, and get this ridiculous ‘democracy’ rubbish the hell over with?

Thank you, Wiley, but I can claim no special powers. The search string “non sequitur gretel” called it right up.

12 August 2012. Tofu oats? Since, by all rights, Joe should be reading this story to his grandkids by now, I wonder if Danae and Lucy have stumbled into Jack’s imagination again.
