    I named my first cat Squoosh, because as a little kitten he was too small to actually stroke pet, so I put my hand over his back and gave him gentle hugs that I called Squooshes. My favorite story about this is when a person new to English was excited to learn a new word for her vocabulary and I had to tell her it was made up. By the way, I was almost 30 (!) when this happened.
