    I have a lot of buddies who’ve seen more than their share starting with Panama. I don’t ask, period. I’m glad to have my friends back. They know I’m there if they need me.

    However, when I do hear others ask, the usual response is “Well, that was a long day…” and leave it at that.

    My late brother used “Doonesbury” as a justification for getting a ‘72 BMW R75/5. Apparently JJ said that "college guys all ride BMW’s" and he had that strip on his door.

    Geezum—- I remember when he and Mark did a cross country road trip in the “doonesbuggy”— a BMW R series with a side car— and not as a flashback strip. Now he’s “grandpa?”

    Years ago, my brother and I bought my dad a Mac Classic. Dad “cleaned it up” and deleted all of the oldest files

    Including the operating system…

    As soon as my brother got it going again, dad, a 74 year old WWII vet, set out to learn the machine. Read the manual, took classes, tried stuff. Learned more about that thing than anyone I knew. He even started helping neighbors with their toys.

    Old dogs can learn new tricks— even if they burn out the engine of the snowblower by not checking the oil.
