It is a pretty straightforward comic. Just my view on it. Bernice figured Puddles was lonely. A lot of readers hate on her no matter what she does. It is a comic and is meant to be entertaining.

Cute comic. Bernice is a trying to figure out why Puddles is whining and thinks it is because he misses his family, which is reasonable. She is planning to give him some cuddles and talk to him to help him feel better. When you think about dogs and people, dogs use body language and can’t understand most words people are saying to them. Bernice is trying to help Puddles feel less lonely and Puddles can’t tell her what he needs. If it wasn’t a comic strip, the next frame would be Puddles getting her attention and going to the door. Greg and Karen have created a funny comic strip. I appreciate the humour in it.

It is a nice arc. Not sure if it will last once they get to the cabin. Nice to see the kids taking charge and the parents are able to sit back and relax.

It sounds like Brad was pretty annoying on road trips in those days. He sure mellowed out as he got older.

It looks like Nancy was reading written directions to the cabin that was likely given to Frank by the cabin owner. That would be more accurate than a paper map. Luann navigating with a phone may work but won’t necessarily get them there especially if there is limited map info for the address for where they are going. I love that the kids are taking over but it seems more likely they will end up lost now that they are using a phone, instead of instructions.

Doesn’t look likely the cabin will be amazing.

If I were taking care of my niece and found her taping toilet paper rolls on the wall, we would have a conversation about how it wasn’t safe for the hamster and we would clean it up together. I know it is a comic strip and it is meant to be funny but Toni doesn’t seem like she is able to set limits and keep the school hamster safe in the process. This would be equivalent to finding a child drawing on the wall with crayons and instead of getting them to help you clean it up, you give them markers to use as they would work better. If she and Brad have kids, hopefully she will learn to be more responsible.
The biggest issues would be running water, electricity, beds for everyone, and a bathroom. If you didn’t plan for these items, you would not have what you need to manage your stay. They likely don’t have any camping gear as they expected the lodge to have those items.
