When i was in school it was required that both boys and grils took home ec/wood and metal shop for 7th and 8th grade and then you could take extra years as an elective. I took extra home ec as an elective for 9-12th grade because I didn’t want to take a language, Spanish or French, and I didn’t need all the extra math courses because I was a business student and we got our math credits with accounting and business math.
Our school lunches were always good, don’t recall ever eating something that was disgusting. I got free lunches so that was a plus. Now all our local schools also serve breakfast everymorning at no cost to everyone because for some kids that is the only way they get a breakfast and also the governor has a summer lunch program that all students get for free.
That is the way my parents did it, after high school we had to pay room and board if we wanted to continue to live at home and me and my sister found that reasonable and they didn’t charge us very much.
I have never heard of use Zelle or paypal for rent, all the landlords that I have rented from require a check for rent. I write check, make a copy of it for my files and then give landlord check, old landlord also gave us a receipt for rent check but new landlord, just bought the building last month, hasn’t done that yet. Our back doesn’t include copies of checks when giving bank statements anymore so that is why I make copy of rent check plus I always make a copy of my alimony check before I but it in checking account in case something comes up as an issue with it with my ex husband.
I pay all my bills online on their websites, except my newpaper because they don’t have that option but I just call them and the use my debit card number for my checking account for payment and then send me an email receipt.
The only place that I know of that I use that charges a small fee for card payments is a local pizzeria but it isn’t a huge amoount, usually less than a dollar.
We have a couple of those historical covered bridges in our county and to keep them from falling apart they have it marked that only a certain limit of weight is allowed to use it and if someone with a higher weight limit crosses it and damages it they are responsible to pay for the repairs themselves.
That happens in my town a couple times a month. We have one road that is under a old RR bridge overpass and the tractor trailers use it to get to the interstate entrance in our town and most of them get stuck because they don’t pay attention to the 3 signs leading up to the overpass. The end up having to close the road and have someone come help them get the truck unstuck and on its way. People just don’t learn.
Not anymore they aren’t, there is bad blood between them and they don’t even talk to each other anymore.
