    Ugh, Jack.

Mistake #1: When Nil asked you to ask Bernice out for him, you should’ve said, “No. Be an adult and ask her yourself.”

Mistake #2: Because you agreed to the task, you should have been upfront with Bernice, not made it sound like she was just doing you a favor and taking your place because you couldn’t go.

Mistake #3: Having concocted this bizarre story, you should have stuck with it and not turned right around and told Luann the truth. Of course it was going to get right back to Bernice.

This whole situation is ridiculous. Also, the level of anger for both girls in the third panel – especially Bernice – is awfully over-the-top. I’m with those who question how these two are even supposed to be considered friends anymore.

I think the attention was changing the water. Like when a mom says to a child his messy room “needs attention.”

It should be “me and” because, as it is worded/stated, this would be an odd way for him to ask just for Nil. Which is to say, when asking for someone else, that would be the lead in. “Oh, my friend Nil wanted me to ask you…” But this is Luann, so Plot Device has it worded to be a Jump the Gun Misunderstanding, setting Bernice up for embarrassment. Then again, she seems to be embarrassing herself just fine.

Yeah… Bernice in PJs and a scrunchie studying for 3 exams might get a pass from Jack for apparently neglecting her fish, because she’s overwhelmed with school. Bernice with the time to get all dressed up and act like Jack is dropping by unexpectedly for afternoon tea? Not so much. If her goal is to impress Jack, she doesn’t seem to understand the guy and how he thinks/operates.

I think they will. There was a short-lived tv series call Selfie that was a modern day My Fair Lady. The main character was a young woman addicted to her social media fame but had no actual real friends. The backstory was she had been an “ugly” bullied child who initiated her own makeover, turned model beautiful, and gained thousands of internet followers, but still didn’t know how to interact with people in real life. I think we are in for a very similar story for Bets.

Your sarcasm has had me genuinely lol’ing this week. I know I’m new to this party, but I make a mean potato salad I could bring…

I was married at 19 (Husband is same age), finished my first degree at 22, had my first child at 24, second child at 27, picked up my second degree a few years after that.

Husband and I will be celebrating our 32nd anniversary this summer.

Does that qualify enough for “remembering what is was like to be in a relationship at 20” and a “successful relationship”?

Because Gunther saying “I love you,” and Bets running off in response had me rolling my eyes so hard I was practically staring out the back of my head. I suspect this is not the dumping/end of the relationship some people are thinking it is, but rather the start of a “deep” conversation where Gunther follows her out, finds her either crying or panicking in her car, and then we learn “why” Bets behaves the way she does. I put the “why” in quotes merely because I do not believe her reasons will truly justify her behaviors, though I think we will be meant to see her in a much more sympathetic light.

Because the customer isn’t. If I walk into a local French cafe, wave some money around and say I’ll be returning and expecting a Hawaiian Luau, to which the owner says, “We don’t do that.” in no way am I right for expecting them to agree to my demands.

Tiffany told Bets what she planned. She told Bets she doesn’t do pirates. Bets’ failure to listen is all on her.

At which point, the entire staff of The Chinese Palace looks at you and your friends and bursts out laughing at the guy who thought he could just order up whatever he wanted, regardless of what the restaurant actually serves.

Oh, ffs. Tiffany told Bets exactly what she was offering. Bets asked for something completely different. Tiffany made it clear that’s not what her venture offered and at no point did she say this was some sort of “customize your experience!” venture. She made it clear that if you bought a table at her “restaurant,” you were getting her “classy, romantic” night. Bets didn’t listen, like always, and adding insult to injury, way underpaid for what she was demanding. Tiffany did not break a (non existent) contract. She provided exactly what she told Bets what she was offering.
