No, not so terrible. This actually happened to me in 5th grade. Got up too early for cartoons and instead watched a young rabbit on my lawn from my window to pass the time. A Redtailed hawk blasted past my eyes just like this and I screamed. After the initial shock I was amazed that neither the rabbit nor I saw the hawk coming and it lead me on a life of watching, observing, then studying birds, a love for raptors, working to reintroduce Peregrine Falcons, and appreciating wildlife most of my life. I always think of Richard Adams quote in Watership Down about rabbits: “All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a Thousand Enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.”

Ha! That’s funny! Ever notice the more outdoorsy you are, the better you can ID roadkill at 75+ miles per hour?

Oh my god, I am so loving your work and bird humor! Being an ex-biologist having worked with Peregrines and still an active birder, I admire how you are totally in the humor bird zone. Keep it UP! – Larry (just another glorified avian peeping tom)
