At my house…fitted sheet, duvet with cover, no tucking in of top sheets or whatever some people have on their beds. Also, it’s better to air out the bed first before you make it. I hate the way they make hotel beds, takes me five minutes to get all the sheets and blankets untucked, so that I can sleep comfortably.
I guess we both have too much time on our hands to keep this conversation going:). Let’s just agree that we disagree on this issue. For me it’s patronizing behaviour, for you it’s education. Different points of view, I guess.Meine Muttersprache ist Deutsch:)
I said “publicly” – definition: pub·lic·ly: so as to be seen by other people. English also is my second language, and I would find it humiliating if someone would correct me after I made a minor mistake which was probably a typo. My kids and closest friends are encouraged to correct me, but not some stranger. Orinoco Womble needs to keep corrections in the proper place…in their classroom!
English is not my first language and I’m sure my teacher never taught us this expression in class:). I know now what it means but it’s not quite clear to me why. Maybe I should read the original book and the context would explain that particular choice of words.
Never get the sports references. Same happens when I play ‘Connections" . I always fail when it’s sports related.
