Or just a kid. On a family trip to the mountains, my daughter (age 8 or so) proclaimed “They’re just rocks with trees on them and that’s all they’ll ever be!” (wasn’t typical of her, which might be why I remember it years later,)
Actually the joke only insults Tammy Faye. It implies her (black) family is comfortable with who they are, but not so comfortable with Tammy Faye. So they have her hide any resemblance to them.
If I have to, but long division, as it was once called, can sometimes defeat me. I run out of room to keep moving the sub-calculations (?) to the right.
I wish you the best. I had breast cancer several years ago, but got by with a partial mastectomy, aka lumpectomy, and radiation. No chemo. It wasn’t much fun, but it was less than some go through and best of all, it was successful. May you soon be cancer-free.
Apparently there were several readers who couldn’t accept Farley’s death. I read somewhere that Lynn did that to stay in keeping with the characters aging in real time. I think one of Ellie’s or John’s parents died in the strip too. I appreciated the realism, even when sad. But for those who didn’t, there’s always the immortal dogs like Snoopy and Dennis the Menace’s Ruff.
I’ll go with Genghis Kahn. Sounds like something he might say. And who can prove otherwise?
