This is a great opportunity to be creative and take Shannon’s story in a fun and positive direction. Though she hasn’t had overall good parental guidance, she is not “just a brat” who needs discipline. I encourage you have one of the characters – perhaps someone like Bernice in her course of study or someone unexpected (perhaps TJ?) to have a light go on that Shannon has ADHD. Do NOT think Dennis nor Bart. Girls are often never or misdiagnosed until they are much older (sometimes adults). Perhaps a no-meds version. Give this one a happy story that incorporates your creativity and humor – and a bit of education to the public. Shannon learning the word “neurodiversity” can be fun! I’m sure Jessica McClure would be more than happy to consult. >
Seriously? I usually like this comic What an obnoxious and thoughtless attempt at humor.! Not only did infants through adults die from Polio – Polio survivors are later stricken with the ills of Post Polio Syndrome which contributes to mobility decline and death. This is not just “old people” those even in their 20s/30s and younger born in countries where the vaccine was not available contracted Polio and not have PPS – Also, Polio is not completely eradicated – we just don’t see it in the US – SHAME ON YOU FOR THIS CARTOON! https://post-polio.org/
