There’s an urban legend that every Magic Roundabout character in the English dub is the personification of a different drug, with Florence being the normal level-headed one. Dougal is LSD (the sugar lumps), Zebedee is cocaine, Dylan is marijuana, Brian is diazepam, Ermintrude is heroin (the flower in her mouth), et cetera. It is, of course, complete bollocks. Dougal’s character and line delivery is actually modelled on Tony Hancock.
Now, what about the circumstances surrounding that particular photograph. Florence is demonstrating more curiosity, interest and mindfulness there that Marigold did for a while.
