    And also because:

    - sex scenes

    - very dark subject matter

    - drug use

    - many uses of explicit language

    - dark adult humor

    - misogyny

    - extremely melodramatic

    - is 3 hours long so he would probably whine and fall asleep

panel 1: “I cant deal with him today”

us, the reader ask ourselves “Who is this rascal she speaks of?” We are immediatley hooked in by the genius writing and storytelling of Mr Pierce

panel 3: “she’s the head of a newspaper with circulation of 20,000”

This line of witty dialogue captures the reader’s attention once again and we ask ourselves “Wow. I want to know who this guy is..”

panel 4: The reveal. the reader finds out that the mystery person is no other than the protagonist Nate Wright. The reader bursts into laughter he/she says "Wow It’s Nate up to his usual shenanigans and tomfoolery! Quite humorous.

“What’s the joke?” You absolute fool. Clearly the average “reviewer” on GoComics has the mind of a simpleton and prances over the genius wit of the Pierceian masterpiece that is Big Nate and is only able to comment on elementary narrative structures. Ha. Do not worry. I will unwrap the comedic brilliance folded carefully in today’s strip. Admittedly, sometimes even I, a doctor of English Literature am too much of a mortal vessel to understand the ingenuity behind this everyday cartoon. Oh, how I envy Pierce’s craftiness. Perhaps the true meaning behind Big Nate is something to be interpreted by one’s self. Maybe Nate’s endless fails are much more than just a slapstick staple; but rather a commentary on existential nihilism. Maybe the reason the overall quality of Big Nate has withered (Many people have stated this. I agree to an extent.) is because Pierce believes that society today has too; and that the reason for Big Nate’s current tasteless and numb state is that it only follows the trends and habits of people today. The narrative of Marty remarrying can be easily done with an intriguing but unexciting web dating storyline (As seen in the weeklong strip at the end of June 2022. Personally, I found it to be an interesting take on p*rnography and it’s affect on families) as Pierce may feel that it is realistic. There may not even be a message to take in. Maybe the Big Nate I read 20 years ago is different to the Big Nate I read now. Maybe Big Nate is a strip that is supposed to age with us. Big Nate truly is a Piercian masterpiece and the only limit to deciphering the hidden definition of this comic is one’s mind and the true meanings are one’s own interpretation. Thank you Mr Pierce for creating such a fascinating work of art.

In case you were wondering, I do wear a wig that is supposed to mimic the hair of the deep and heavily studied character Nate Wright. And yes, it stays on during sex.
