Uh Oh! Is this going to turn into Suspiria?

Is Henry a Seinfeld fan? Many parallels to The English Patient episode Izzy Mandelbaum plot, right down to the #1 Dad shirt*. “You think you can lift more than me?? It’s go time!”

Sheriff Luke strained so hard, his rectum prolapsed. Don’t worry, there’s already an ambulance en route for Gil’s two dislocated shoulders.

*"Well, I don’t know how official any of these rankings really are."

“Dad, spread the jelly all the way to edge of the bread! If I have to tell you again, I’ll be serving you my specialty, a knuckle sandwich!”“Yes, pumpkin.”

I read the strip and I watched the video. My point was that BOTH the strip and the video are unclear about how the drills are conducted and what their purpose is.The video is a news story that cobbles together several things: a lock down drill in a Florida school, some training with simulated casualties taking place in an unspecified place, and an active shooter/lockdown drill in a Colorado school. I personally find the construction of that video (for national broadcast!) disjointed and sloppy.

Here is a more fleshed out story from local media about the Florida school:https://www.theledger.com/story/news/2014/11/20/lockdown-drill-at-jewett-middle/8200928007/

If you read the story, you will see that some of the confusion came from a law enforcement officer blurring the line between the tactics of active shooter scenario training and conducting a lockdown drill. MY POINT WAS that the Gil Thorp strip seems to be blurring those lines too.

You read my comment and that’s your reply? Sorry, Henry, but that makes no sense.

Based on what I’m seeing here, it looks like this is as much a training exercise for the responders as it is for the school students and staff. Teachers and students are participating in a simulation of an active shooter situation where law enforcement is on the scene and attempting to locate and neutralize the shooter. We’re not seeing an exercise where students and staff are learning how to react to the threat BEFORE law enforcement shows up (like in the last part of the video). If I was on the staff of this school or had kids in Milford, I’d have some issues with the way this was being conducted, not because it is scary to the kids, but because it’s not necessarily presenting the most realistic (and dangerous) scenario (sadly).

I don’t see how the news story is informing what we’re seeing here in Milford. The concern in the first part story was whether there should have been some advanced notification about the drill, but it didn’t really go into how the drill was conducted. It shifts to video of law enforcement activity, simulated victims etc., but again it’s not clearly stated who THOSE drills are for, the school or for law enforcement.

I’m sorry if this is nitpicky, Henry, but if you’re going to go there, you are asking for a high level of scrutiny given how much attention is being paid to this topic.
