Y’all seem like smart people, but I don’t see a lot of critical thinking or discussion in these comments. You aren’t proposing any new ideas; you’re saying something to the effect of, “What’s the deal with Republicans these days?”. Then 20 other people respond and say the exact same thing. Talk about an echo chamber.
News flash: Republicans are people who have some sense of critical thinking. They have some sense of compassion. All people do. It’s just a matter of what opinions people identify with, and how willing they are to disregard facts and empathy to maintain those opinions.
Republicans are angry with an alleged oversensitivity expressed by “people on the left” and on the far left. That’s what “Woke” means.
Sure, it’s vague. But so is this weird MAGA stereotype everyone’s blabbering about. There are some patterns in the way Republicans and Trump supporters react, but there are critical thinking and life experiences that push people to support such ideas. “MAGA” Republicans, at least the way they are described in these comments, are actually quite rare. Go talk to a Republican in real life. Most of what they say will probably sound silly to you, but if you learn their story and listen to their thought processes, you might be surprised by how reasonable they can seem. I’m not justifying the scapegoat of a “woke” culture. It is kind of a silly idea.
Stop dehumanizing people by shoving them into large groups. And stop shoving yourselves into large groups.
Well said! I feel exactly the same.
