    True that. I’m thankful.

Maybe Italian mothers are like Jewish mothers. My mum, even at age 90 and with Alzheimer’s, will say “Oy, don’t get me started…” and then procedes to get started, “Let me tell you….” and does 45 minutes on whatever’s wrong with the world or the telly show or her back pain, etcetera.

My dad gave me a small stuffed leopard plush toy I was 3. “Leonard Leopard” was my companion, similar to Calvin’s Hobbes, throughout my early childhood, and ended up with most of his fur, his original eyes (mum sewed new ones on) and one ear loved off. After my dad passed away a few years ago, my sister presented me with old “Leppy”, who dad had apparently kept all those years, along with a homemade trophy I’d given him and a couple of similar things, all of which now reside in my home office.

Agreed! I love my 94 Toyota 4Runner. 200,000 miles so far, no major issues. Had to replace the clutch last year, and the usual wear bits like brakes and hoses.

Mine stayed short through school and Navy, then I didn’t cut it for decades. Had a pony tail long enough to sit on. Every few years my youngest daughter (who also had really long hair) and I would each cut off a length and send them to Locks of Love, a great organization that makes wigs for kids with cancer. These days I keep mine short as my fingers have gotten too arthritic to braid it anymore. My daughter braided it for me for a couple years until she went in the Navy ten years ago, so at this point I just go with what requires the least amount of effort.

“Intangible Talent” would be a good name for a band. Possibly an appropriate one as well, if they weren’t very good.

Same here, and our Dad as well.

I remember me Mum hand-making bows, sliding a scissor blade down the ribbon to curl it.
