Because I’m an anonymous commenter on an Internet forum. Duh.

Isn’t it a bit unseemly for a guy who runs and bikes and swims every day, and has for years, to comment on the failures of the lazy bums who don’t? Just pat yourself on the back; be grateful that you don’t have trouble finding your own motivation; be even more grateful that you have your health, and keep quiet.

Hmmm. Americans are an acquisitive bunch. And we’re prone to hanging onto stuff that clutters up our lives.

    Who knew?

I’m sure it’s just me, but I’d much prefer that that last stanza be spoken (thought?) by an onlooker. It’s funnier (to me) that someone might be teasing Frazz for being up and out at that hour. When he says/thinks it, it comes off as self-aggrandizing. As in, “Yeah, allthe other lazy boobs in this burg are in bed. Me, I’m doing something special.”

You look up every word you don’t know? Even words about subjects that don’t interest you, suggested by people you find annoying? Because you have a “responsibility “ to do so?

    Okay.

As for Jef Mallett (dying toknow why you put his name in quotes) he’s better off on Facebook. For obvious reasons. Lots of fawning over there.

Of course it is. It’s a very, very fine thing to do. But I’ve always found it profoundly weird that a cartoonist might make “making readers think” such a priority. Be funny! I’m not interested in learning about an endurance athlete’s obsessions.

Interesting that your comment is all about the commenter and not about the comic, or its author. Is it that hard for you to imagine that someone could have highly developed intellectual curiosity AND disdain for an artist who thinks that prompting readers to do research is more important than making them laugh?

Sorry, Jef. I’ve never heard of Strava. And it takes more than an unfunny comic strip to make me want to google it.

Am I the only one who is sad about the days getting longer? Short days mean low winter sunlight. And low winter sunlight is the best there is. (Yes, I am a photographer.)

Since when has this kid waited to be asked before proving that he’s smarter than everyone else?
