   The “bees” in the nest are actually wasps, which can be aggressive if you disturb their home (or even appear to be a threat by hanging around too close). Honeybees, responsible for pollination of about 1/3 of all the food we eat, are indeed endangered due to pesticide poisoning and various environmental factors. They live in holes in trees and sometimes in walls or roofs of human structures, are vegetarian and fuzzy, and are generally docile (they die after they sting, so what’s the point). Yellow jackets, on the other hand, are carnivorous, live in holes in the ground, are bright yellow and smooth, and can be very nasty (they don’t die after they sting, so bring it on!). Thank a honeybee for being alive and for helping YOU to live.
