Thank-you! I felt certain there had to be a previous strip where Mike figures it out.

[Groan] It’s instructive to compare the deft, slight-of-touch, superbly crafted Doonesburys of the weekday re-runs from the 1990s with the sledge-hammer subtlety of Trudeau’s contemporary screaming, megaphone delivery. If Trump was guilty of polarising the population, how on earth is this kind of shrieking going to do anything other than entrench the polar extremes, rather than effect any more mature persuasion? If ever there was a time for reflection and gradual reform, rather than high-volume reaction, surely it’s now?

From my perspective, from across the Ocean, Doonesbury’s becoming terminally one-note – predictable and just plain not-funny-any-more. Trump being a dope is just not a terribly adventurous observation any more. I’d be interested in ANYTHING else that gives us a break from Trump:— Clinton? Any of the other characters from 40 years of Doonesbury?

Yep – agree with Argythree; the timeline’s all over the place. Spiky – floppy – spiky again. Forget it.

I completely agree with nearly all above, particularly Thuja & Argythree that this hackneyed story line is well past its sell-by date. Doing something else with it – maybe power reversal – would be interesting, but merely repeating ad nauseam over the decades is a tad depressing. Mind you, these once-a-weeks serve as little more than a general memory-jogger as to the very existence of the strip, rather than any meaningful plot development. Pity.

Good lord, this is tedious stuff. Does anyone really care about this story-line? What with the only alternative to this being Trump-bashing, I’m further convinced that Doonesbury’s just treading water. Pity.
I thought it was a “Topkapi” reference?
