I don’t usually comment though I love reading everyone else’s. I worked in downtown Manhattan in the early 1970’s. I watched the towers rise. Never thought I’d see them fall. My family lost friends and my stepson works frighteningly close to the WTC. Re yesterday’s strip: On Remembrance Day, 2001 (Canada’s version of the USA’s Veteran’s Day) Lynn did a wonderful strip regarding Sept. 11. I hope the link works. If not, type “Remembrance Day” into the archive search engine and “2001” into the year boxes.
My late husband and I are/were both half Italian. My other half is Irish {“Gaelic & Garlic”} and his other half was Puerto Rican. So I used to tell him if I’m Puerto Rican by Injection then he was Irish by Osmosis!
My husband became a NY City Police Officer a couple of years after we married. We had a very happy and successful marriage for 31 years, 4 months and one day. We’d still be married if he hadn’t passed away. He was quite handsome. And for your information fritzoid and AZP, I am a very self-respecting woman … and I LOVED my husband’s moustache!
When he retired {at 39 because of injuries sustained working} my very wise and loving husband {now deceased} gave me a bumper sticker that read: Retirement: Half as much money, Twice as much HUSBAND!
I agree with Susan001–If he’s a wizard, why doesn’t he change his lot in life? Why does he put up with all the bleeep he puts up with? And why oh why does he kowtow to the Fink?
EarlWash, yyyguy, and a few others said, basically, if you don’t have cash don’t buy it, or at least pay off the balance each month. That’s all well and good. You’re all correct. That is the best way to use credit cards.
HOWEVER … not everyone is able to do that. What if you’re disabled and/or on a fixed income and need vital medicine? What if there are medical bills that insurance doesn’t cover? What if your car breaks down and it MUST BE repaired because it’s your only means of getting around?
Not everyone is in this predicament because of greed or self-indulgence. Everyone got screwed … even those who played by the rules.
