Well, I never went in my kids rooms unless it got overwhelmingly untidy. Then I threatened to go in unless it was cleaned up. Now in their 30s I have a son who is obsessively tidy and a daughter who is not. My take on it? Kids grow up in spite of what you do, their room is the only place they can call their own and they learned how to respect privacy, each other and me.
