It’d be nice if Luann found a nice, stable guy to date, but I’m skeptical it will ever happen. She seems doomed. Somehow something will disqualify this guy. My bet is he’s already married, but, thinking back to Mrs. Horner’s “your slate’s been Phil’d” comment, she would know he’s unavailable, right?
There’s a contrast of voices here. This woman says they’re “awful role models” yet we see the result of their lives reflected in the once awful Shannon making her first friend. Kinda reminds me of how Luann met Bernice.
I think y’all are missing the point of this arc. Luann was thinking she was a blank slate to write something new. I hope this experience teaches her that she isn’t so blank. She has value and skills. She was good in this context and I hope she turns that into a direction for her life.
Might be a dream, but even if is, this could be a pivot point in her life toward a medical career. Doctor Luann. Getting through medical school will take her another 20 of our years.
