The farm thing was so weird in the 80s. We produce(d) food so well that the government paid farmers NOT to grow something, just to keep things good. Meanwhile, banks started not loaning to farmers, calling loans in, generally making things miserable for the growers.

Everyone mentioning here how Russia was never a communist state, nor China, is the exact reason Communism will never work. In its purest form, I can see Communism being a good thing. The trouble is, no human ever, save one, has ever been pure. Any Communist state will become corrupted.
Same with “Democracy,” as we like to pretend we have here in the States. Or Republic. Or any other government style save Fascism. With Fascism, they make no bones about what they are and believe. It’s god-awful, and the worst government idea ever, but once control was gained (I’m thinking of Germany, of course), everyone knew what to expect.
With the States, at least we have the ability to air grievances as a people. As flawed as our government is, flawed enough to almost make me an Anarchist, at least we have the ability to write what everyone is writing here. Think back to how it was in the 60s/70s/80s in Russia. Do you think we could get away with this chat line?

well, as I understand, people at the poverty line wouldn’t be taxed at all.
I can’t speak for the billionaires, but if I were a billionaire and they wanted to tax me at a 75% tax rate, I believe I’d move to another place that, you know, didn’t.
