I taught English for 32 years. Every time we asked for a raise, the school board offered a benefit instead. Unfortunately now that I’m retired, they are taking benefits away or reducing the amounts drastically.
Retired for 20 years! First 10 years busy with spending as much time as I could with my grandkids making memories and enjoying play time, reading stories together, going to DisneyLand several times, overnights, etc. Now everyone is in school…from college, high, middle, and elementary schools! Now I spend my time reading, crafting, lunching with friends, recouping from surgeries , and enjoying just being able to enjoy life.
My hubby finally got CPAP machine and what a difference. He used to fall asleep at this desk at work! Scared his Secretary who saw him slumped over thinking he was dead….Grandkids used to prop stuffed animals around him when he’d zonk-out! Now good night sleep!
Oh, as a Polish gal, I love sauerkraut (add a pinch of brown sugar), fresh homemade kielbasa with fresh horseradish on the side for dipping, and boiled and buttered potatoes! And please don’t forget the caraway rye bread and butter! Yum! Now that is a delicious meal! And if any leftover kielbasa, cut into “pennies” and quick fry with the leftover potatoes for breakfast in the morning! My Buscia (grandma) spoiled us with her homemade Polish cooking all the time. Even developed a love of pickled or creamed herring as a kid, too! Superb cook and baker and not one written recipe used!
I was looking forward to pretty white hair when I hit retirement age. As a natural blonde, my hair started to turn the ugliest grey-brown, real mousy color…..Ugh! I now pay big bucks to get a color NOT LIKE A MOUSE!
As a teacher of 32 years, there are so many names! Some are easily remembered, but most I do remember they were in my class, but the name has long gone!
