If my 70 year old brain isn’t fooling me…isn’t burying the lede putting an important story in the bottom half of the page (below the fold) so it’s less likely to be seen…and burying the lead is holding back on what should be the most important part of a story? This was what I was taught in journalism class waaaay back in the early 1970’s. And it’s the explanation that makes most sense to me. Moral of the story – it depends on your perspective!
It’s a thing, for sure. I had an uncle that lived in Lufkin, TX for a few years, where there was a paper mill. Loved visiting my uncle, hated the smell the whole time I was there!
