For another look at a dystopian trend, read Orwell’s “Down and Out in Paris and London”. He was basically a “gig” worker washing dishes in Paris. In London, he was homeless, forced to change charity flophouse residences frequently and marked by yellow-tinged skin from the carotene in the charity food margarine. It was a time when people paid to sleep folded over a rope in crowded cellars.

Orwell got one point wrong. He didn’t realize we’d volunteer our private lives, not to Big Brother, but to Big Corp. Right, Alexa?

Whoever thought “Ignorance Is Strength” would become Trump’s unofficial campaign slogan?
