At first I thought they were playing a jumbo game of Battleship. I don’t get why the numbers are in the jumbled order they are—I’m sure there’s a reference here which I’m not getting.
OK, Dave. I get the pun. You used a multiplication table versus a geometric square. However, highlighting the 3×8 square seem to have no meaning. Your multipication table is functional but not in the normal format. You created a 11×11 table. Normally, the numbers 1-11 would be in order in both the top row and first column. You used the numbers 2-12 randomly for your row and column. Having bored everyone with this long comment, it would had added another laugh if you had a 14 in top row and placed the yellow highlight on the intersection of 7 × 14 for the current date! :-)

The illuminated block should be a square (1×1, 2×2, 3×3...). 3×8 isn’t a square.

Tomorrow Red Square, then Saint Peter’s Square. Trafalgar might be a reach though.

If that were a piece of furniture, would it be a multiplication table?
