My late husband always said that the Lottery is the stupid man’s retirement policy. Better off putting that $2 (but who ever buys just one?) every week into some sort of savings.

A week ago, my wife won $1500 in a “slot play” drawing at the local “Treasure Island Casino” in Red Wing, Minnesota. After “playing” this “free money”, she ended up with a little more than $1200 is slot winnings. Had she actually spent $1500 to gamble with, and went home with $1200, I would consider it a loss of $300, or 20%..Given a casino pays out about 80% of the gambling “investment”, I consider it a “push”. In other words, if you walk into a casino with $1000, consider yourself “average” if you walk out with $800…
