Man: So this guy walks into my cube and says. "What cha doin? I say, "nothing" well then he says "why dont you take an early lunch? Okay, I say, I'll be back around one.' and he says no actually you won't.
I get an email about a one on one 9 o’clock meeting. I took most of my stuff out to my truck which was good as they rushed me out of the place with 2 boxes of stuff. Strangely it was one of the best days of my life and I let my boss know it.
Once I went to work and everyone was looking at me funny (it was a call center)…I sat down, logged in and started taking calls. About the time for a break, I noticed my name wasn’t on the day’s scheduling board so I raised my hand and asked a supervisor. Next thing I know, all the supervisors were in a huddle, whispering and staring at me. A minute later I was told I was fired yesterday for calling in sick and not attending the last day of training class.
Strange that no one told me the whole time I was sitting there taking calls!! Well, that company folded a year later anyways. Something about the owners mismanaging their money and they couldn’t afford to pay anyone. No love lost there.
Congratulations to everyone who commented they had been ‘let go’. When you look back and realize the (^%$ you were putting up with, you understand it was the best thing that could’ve happened to you. I walked out on a boss who hated my guts because I am a motorcyclist. I started my own shop, and 7 years later I’m busy everyday and then some, and stopped advertising 4 years ago.
I can’t tell you how much more relaxed I was when I was invited to leave my last regular job. My nerves settled down, I stopped stuttering and the tic went away. It took a couple years before the nightmares went away.Considering the people who stayed it’s shocking the numbers of early deaths, either right after retiring or just before it.
