Unless you have a dog that would love to spend its days keeping birds off your lawn, seeds will do nothing.

I hear from the gardener in F Minus that plastic plants are the way to go.

If I wanted a perfect lawn I would have moved to Hallbrooke. Out here in the distant suburbs “natural” is the way to go.

Lawns are a dumb concept fueled by suburbs and a desire for pristine consistency. I prefer to let my lawns develop more naturally and now I have a wonderful ecosystem that’s far more entertaining than a flat plane of identical grass. Yesterday I discovered a colony of praying manti has developed near some old logs. I wouldn’t get that mowing a lawn, and the time and energy doesn’t feel worth it when I’m not holding parties or letting pets run around in it.

We only mow to get clippings to use as mulch in the veggie garden. The rest of the time it is chicken prairie.
