To get a square root, you have to start when the plant is young and make sure the root is confined to a square box.

Never needed to find a square root in real life. Paul Simon 1973: “When I think back on all the crap I learned in high school, it’s a wonder I can think at all.”

I have a book (remember them?) that tells how to find CUBE roots with paper and pencil.

Brings back memories of my numerical methods class in college. You basically learn how to prove a series is equal to an otherwise impossible to calculate function on your calculator. Then proceed to use math libraries the rest of your life.

Is this a joke? You simply find the logarithm, divide it by 2, then take the antilog. How can anyone think that’s hard? :)

I first learned about pi and area of a circle from the “pie are round” joke. I didn’t really understand it until 6th grade or so, though.

There really are square trees! I saw them when I was stationed in Panama. But I didn’t dig down to see if the roots were square. It was only the trunk.
