Carol: Red, shut the TV off. It's a nice day out.
Red: Aww, mom. It's hot and humid. How is that nice?
Carol: It's nice because the sound of a boy and his dog playing outside is music to my ears.

Mom, how musical can a hot, sweaty Red be? And poor Rover, sweltering in his fur coat! Crank up the AC already!

If Red is hot, Rover must be dying!

Keep in mind, this the 1960’s. None of us could afford AC’s back then. So back in our time when were kids and had to cool off, it was either two things: An electric fan (many of them) or the public swimming pool.

Heat never bothered me when I was a kid…..except maybe when I was trying to sleep. However, I almost hated winter as much as I do now.

Wow! I haven’t seen Red’s mom in a while. I already know that Red’s mother name is Carol. But what is Red’s last name?

I played baseball all summer long. The heat never bothered me. I hated it when it rained though. I wanted to be outside playing ball.

I hated the heat and humidity in IL summers—still do in OH. I was not an overweight child but always got heat rash in the summer and my parents ahd the only fan. (Remember covering you head with a sheet in bed when you heard the whine of a mosquito?) Sweating for fear of being bitten!

Sorry, my parents HAD the only fan.

Funny how Rover’s thoughts are too big for his thought balloon!

I believe the correct terminology for this type of malady is “Crevice Juice”.
