It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring. He went to bed and bumped his head and he couldn't get up in the morning. Or so the nursery rhyme wants you to believe. His wife actually gave him the bump on his head when she couldn't get a wink of sleep because of his snoring.

What a family, one is snoring and one makes gas giants (Saturns).

I didn’t know there was a second verse.

I wondered why it was raining when the old man was snoring; I understand the strikes of nine pin that Rip Van Winkle reported to have made up the thunder but not the rain. It was always gloomy when it rained so I just wrote it off as someone crying; of course when it snowed it was that persons dandruff.

I have a friend who snores so loud, he keeps a hammer, screwdriver, putty knife, and spackle next to his bead..The screwdriver is to tighten all the outlet and switch plate screws that come loose, and the hammer, putty knife and spackle to repair the drywall nail pops…

Hmmm… Domestic violence. Not good, regardless of who is the victim.

We always sang, “covered his head,” not “bumped.”
