Red and Rover by Brian Basset for August 04, 2015
Transcript:
August It's all set then- you lift off from Mars two weeks from yesterday in land on the red planet the following Sunday. Wowsers. That seems fast. I thought it was going to take me nearly a year to get there. Normally it would. But I can't be away from you that long.

So, why send Rover away at all, Red?

Because SOMEBODY has to go to Mars!

Red, of course you couldn’t stay away from Rover. It’s tough enough being separated during the school day. Keep loving each other…someone else can go to Mars. Love you boys.

I knew it would be a speedy delivery…
What? Me worried ? over 9 years ago
Since it is the 60/70’s maybe Red is using dilithium crystals in his warp engine ?

It looks from the calendar as though 1 August is a Saturday as it is this year; that would make 1970 would be the best choice.

Ironically, a spacecraft that could get to Mars on something like Red’s schedule was closer to reality in the 60’s tan it is now! See “Nuclear Pulse Propulsion”
